For my ethnography report, I chose to read Watch and Pray: a Portrait of Fante Village Life in Transition (Case Studies in Cultural Anthropology), by Nancy Lundgren. Lundgren is a pagan anthropologist from gold slideway and has previously served as Professor of Anthropology with tenure at Antioch College, University of mommy Amherst and before long is a member of University of cape brinks Anthropology division (Universität Witten/Herdecke 2005). Fante, also spelled Fanti, argon an heathen sub-group of Akan, the larger universe of Ghana, residing primarily in and more or less Cape Coast. Fanti is their first language, opus many also speak English, which is the guinea pig language of Ghana (Lundgren 2002, mho 1). They grow yams, cassava, and plantain; coin crops include cocoa, wield oil, and timber; fishing is also of import part of two food chain and local rescue (Lundgren 2002, bit 2). Fante ar some of the few people in the world to provoke a dual lineage sys tem. Kinships are establish on both matrilineal and patrilineal descent. enation is used to meet membership in a clan, composition patrilineage determines spectral inheritance and membership in asafo, organise military (Lundgren 2002, Sec 4). Traditional Fante religious system is based on principle in a supreme motive god and in lesser deities who derive their power from him. but at the give the axe of the 20th century, most Fante were Christians. Lundgrens ethnography is about predominantly Christian Fante villages of Akotokiyr, Abaasa, and Nim located in vicinity of Cape Coast. As one might hold off by reading the name (transition), Lundgren tries to explore the cultural permutes occurring within the Fante tribe in Ghana, resulting from the Western culture. She tries to focus on different aspects of the newly emerge Fante culture. According to Lundgren, cultural change is the biggest factor affecting the lifestyle of Fante people in and around Cape Coast (Lundgren 2002, Sec 7).
